Nikon Coolpix will be a great present if you are chasing the pixel amount on the cameras. S70 has incredible 12.1 megapixel sensor. This is pretty high today and very good for slim cameras. It also has 5X optical zoom, and it's enough for the small lens it has.
The greatest thing about this camera is its processor. Nikon coolpix s70 can shoot 720p video at 30 fps. And show it all on its 3.5-inch OLED display. The camera body has only two function buttons: Power and Shoot buttons. The display holds the rest of them, in addition to multitouch built in.
The only drawback this camera has is the picture quality. Professionals rated it: average. It makes great 12.1 megapixel pictures and 720p video at the cost of picture quality.
